Program Overview

Project Glove Up

We started Project Glove Up to offer a program for underserved/at-risk teens who would otherwise not have access. Typically, mixed martial arts is a sport that is not included in most after school programs. Also, many after school programs are geared to the elementary age group. Middle school and high school aged kids are sometimes an afterthought. We want them to be productive, but we lack programs to fulfill them. Our approach is different. We focus on teens so we can show them the value in martial arts. We offer elite training three times a week. The program is demanding and vigorous. Attendance is mandatory for the duration of the program, 1 year. Our program provides all the tools needed to succeed. Any gear they may need is included, as well as a meal after every session.

The progress we have seen in the teens is nothing short of amazing. Athletes have emerged, personalities have blossomed and growth has been made.

Physical Training

Listen, learn, practice

Three times a week the teens meet for practice. The tone of practice always starts out serious. The majority of the kids are early, and begin by wrapping their hands. They chat as the time gets closer for practice to begin. Once attendance is taken and warm up is over, the listening begins. Coach demonstrates the technique for the day, and the kids get going with practical application. They are taught to use proper form and how to defend it. The rest of the session is spent perfecting the technique, over and over again.
